Remember when: Chemical Brothers

The new Chemical Brothers album came out. Unless you wish to pay $10-$17 to get your vocal chords to express “meh,” you might want to stay away. Rather than review the album, I’ve decided to create a list of the Chemical Brothers best ten songs from proper albums, and its worst song (actually two). Take me to the mat… or shed… or mat-shed in the comments.

1) Setting Sun – Dig Your Own Hole
Just such a massive song – so unlike anything else around.

2) It Doesn’t Matter - Dig Your Own Hole
Seemingly monotone, but the beauty is buried

3) Let Forever Be – Surrender
Maybe Gallaghers should have ditched Oasis for ChemBros

4) Block Rockin’ Beats – Dig Your Own Hole
Joint of 97 summer – before they started saying “joint?”

5) Hey Boy Hey Girl – Surrender
Dance party staple since ’00

6) Asleep From Day – Surrender
Yea Mazzy Star

7) Music: Response – Surrender
Can’t go wrong if you sample Misdemeanor
8) The Private Psychedelic Reel – Dig Your Own Hole
This whole album is a head-smashing good time

9) Get Up On It Like This - Dig Your Own Hole
Who needs lyrics?

10) Star Guitar - Come With Us
Some people will have this higher, but it’s not as exciting as other songs

WORST: It Came From Africa/Lost in the K Hole

  1. Nice list–I was always partial to “In Dust We Trust,” which captures the Chem Bros combo of dance beats w/a rock sensibility as well as anything…

  2. I’m a particular fan of “Where Do I Start”. Or is it called “Where Do I Begin”? Maybe it’s, “Where Do I Start, Where Do I Begin”.

  4. Not trying to prove my rap bona fides or anything–because I have none, other than going to high school in Englewood, NJ, home of Sugar Hill Records–but Funky 4 + 1 earned hip-hop immortality in 1980 with “That’s the Joint.”

  6. i lov thier music especilly the salmon dance which is in the single we are the night. to be honest i think thier a bit ugly but im their no 1 fan.THERE AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
