Death Cab For Cutie take 50 Cent's Lead, follow with "Directions"

Death Cab For Cutie announced that videos will be produced for all tracks from their major label debut, "Plans." The project is called "Directions" and will be released on their web site one video at a time according to billboard. You may recall that fellow nerdy indie rocker 50 Cent, did the same thing earlier this year with smash hit Get Rich or Die Tryin'.

Its unclear whether DCFC plans on releasing the videos as an official DVD release, CD+DVD special edition, or at all. The talent creating the videos varies from established directors such as Lance Bangs, Laurent Briet, Monkmus and P.R. Brown, to photographer Autumn de Wilde, writer/director Rob Schrab, animator Norton, graphic artist Jeffrey Brown and design team Lightborne.

Death Cab had a pretty great 2005. Check out their fantasy stats:

-Plans peaked at #4 on the charts.
-Single "Soul Meets Body" went to #5 on the Modern Rock chart.
-Plans nominated for a Grammy for best alternative album (in good company with Arcade Fire, White Stripes, Beck, Franz Ferdinand. A solid group of talent but stat wise a bit weak, not unlike Ron Mexico).

From Bangkok to Calgary, Death cab are huge! Though with titles like "Plans", and "Directions" you gotta wonder if the Pacific Northwest homeboys are getting a bit too domesticated. Stay tuned for the Randy McNally sponsored Guidelines & Recommendations Tour in 2006.
