Jenny Lewis - Big Guns

Rilo Kiley singer Jenny Lewis is the dream woman for all the rock fan boys. (Obligatory mention of her hotness - check.) She shares duties with vocalists the Watson Twins in a new solo album Rabbit Furcoat due in 2006. The album is currently leaked all over the web and is a quick search away from permanence on your hard drive. She describes the Kentucky hailing Watson Twins as "badass". Complementing the Kentucky badassness is the gospel and "white soul" influences that she states are part homage to her moms.

Jenny Lewis tells Rolling Stone:

"I grew up with this great white soul record, [Laura Nyro's 1971] Gonna Take a Miracle. So I wanted to make a record paying homage to my relationship with my mom. It's pretty stripped-down, kind of rootsy at times. In the end, it shaped up to be this weird, loose gospel-y record."

The Merry Swankster adds that the shaping has a classic country vibe too. Thats Loretta Lynn country, not the crap that passes for country these days. With "Big Guns'" lyrics like "Have mercy on me cause we're tired and lonely and we're bloody" you must agree.
