Buzz for Mercury Lounge Show to Reach Dangerous Levels

The Mercury Lounge has now quietly added Beirut to the May 22nd Sunset Rubdown and Frog Eyes show. Head Beirut-er, 19 year old wunderkind Zach Condon's Neutral Milk Hotel in a Turkish bath sound has been featured on almost every indie rock blog that exists recently in anticipation of the May 9th release of debut record, Gulag Orkestar.
A short, in no way comprehensive list, full of heavy hitters:
the Rawking Refuses to Stop!
SKATTERBRAIN
I Guess I'm Floating
Good Hodgkins
Said the Gramophone
Gorilla vs. Bear
Stereogum
Sixeyes
the Catbird Seat
Dreams of Horses
Not that Sunset Rubdown were aching from lack of press, as a quick scroll down this very page will attest. Frog Eyes is swell too.
Coincidentally (or is it?), all three bands were given glowing reviews on Pitchfork this very week;
Sunset Rubdown - Shut Up, I am Dreaming 8.6
Frog Eyes - the Bloody Hand 8.6, the Golden River 8.2
Beirut - "Postcards From Italy" (track review) 4 1/2 Stars
Despite the supposed influence of that publication, and its ability to cause a hipster stampede, tickets for the show are still very much available.
As always, be it the avenues of Austin, Texas, the deserts of California, or the mean streets of New York, Merry Swankster will have the event covered.
