If Yr Not Doing Anything...
So with the Gilmore Girls in reruns for the summer, where's an empty hearted New Yorker to go for a Tuesday night dose of indie rock enmeshed, slightly-eccentric, community warmth?
Cue Flyer:
BYP is the love-labour of Man in Gray's Tina DaCosta (among others), and aims at trying to inject a sense of togetherness into the cold, teeming sea of NYC hip. Rock bands and barbeque are the ties that bind in this particular case. Worked well enough for Austin.
I'm giving a shout out here, as MS likes to encourage D.I.Y.-ness in music, as well as concert promotion. Also woodwork, cheese making, web publishing, most things really. Maybe not dentistry.
I have to plead ignorance on Tuesday's initial slate, but mp3's for most can be found on the party team's website. Also, free brownies and DJ sets from musician and blogger types are promised.
Future shows are planned, most immediately a June 20th show anchored by Clap Your Hands... endorsed band, Takka Takka. A low degree of seperation, as Man in Gray were on the infamously Bowie attended CYHSY Movable Hype bill last year.
Coincidence? Quite probably.
