Fred Vom Jupiter's mechanical cousin
As archivist-in-residence Jeff (along with the fabulous Obscurer Than Thou contributor David Klein) will attest, there's nothing quite like finding one song from an obscure compilation or album, then tracking down the entire thing to find either 1) the song you loved was actually only the tip of the iceberg and/or 2) the song is actually one of the weaker tracks.
In the case of Doraus Und Die Marinas, it's definitely a case of #1 (though not #2, Fred Vom Jupiter is still the best).
Digging through the maze that is the eBays, I found Blumen Und Narzissen, a collection of songs that contained the very FVJ that Jeff raved about in June. There's not much Interwebby info on the band, save for Jeff's insight, but I'm content to let the below songs do all the explaining.
Actually, I would love for someone who speaks German to explain Lokomotivführer. If at all possible.
Doraus Und Die Marinas - Lokomotivführer
Riding a kinetic bass line, Andreas handles the main singing duties, punctuated by Die Marinas' "choo-choo" exhortations. Despite its limited structure, at 2:50, its one of the longer songs on the album.
Doraus Und Die Marinas - Alter Maler
Alter Maler starts as a playful follow-up, with a Super Mario-like synth and Doraus' emotionless singing, he is interrupted halfway by a hastening hi-hat and the ladies.
UPDATE: Here's the video for a third song located on the album - Tulpen und Narzissen
If someone asks for the mp3 in the comments section, I shall dutifully put it up tonight.
I'm not saying that Virgin Megastore should devote two racks to Dorau's exploits, but shouldn't this stuff be easier to find?

I feel bad that no one requested the mp3. You should put it up for the shy Germans, nervously refreshing every hour to see if someone else commented. You know, the fictional ones?
