Video: Ennio Morricone, live with orchestra
Legendary film composer Ennio Morricone will be honored tonight with an honorary Academy Award. Despite five nominations for original score (only 5?) the maestro has never won. In other news, the Oscars are a total sham.
Expect to hear this one early and often in the montage.

How the hell did "Born Free" beat this out?
I know this is primarily a music site, but how about some film analysis? What really were the best movies of the past year?

I was a big Pan's Labryinth fan. Did you see that one? I barely get out to moviews so my year end list would have to be done in mid 07, when all the DVD's were out. That would be a little sad.
I hope they give it to Scorsese, just on general principle.

Scorsese and the Departed both won, and rightly so in my opinion. I haven't seen Pan's Labrynth yet, although it was the primary topic of conversation last night while watching the awards broadcast. All the people that had seen kept trying to do a better imitation of Pan, so even when/if I do see it, I'm not sure if I'll be able to do so without laughing.
