Modest Mouse. I was just listening to this album the other day. Not a dud in the bunch (well, maybe "Trucker's Atlas" didn't have to be 11 minutes long, but still).

I took a hit on my beloved Tori Amos, but no such deal with Portishead. In a clear battle of sangfroid versus dischord, I have to go with the calm, melancholy Beth.

Going with Portishead, but its close. Modest Mouse has aged really well, with half of Canada drawing influence form their style in a really good way, but the Moon and Antarctica is more accomplished and Dummy is magic. I'd say a revivial is imminent there as well.

I've been rocking out to Lonesome Crowded for too many years to not give it a vote here. "Trailer Trash" still puts a smile on my face, and I actually love the fact that "Trucker's Atlas" is so long - - can't deny that Isaac and co. used to be able to keep a groove going.
I loved the Portishead album when it came out. But, at the risk of being labeled a heretic, I don't think its held up as well. Listening to it now, i remember how good it was in '95 - - not how good it still is.
Modest Mouse for me.

Toughest choice yet for me. I'd rather see Modest Mouse play their album live than Portishead in the end.
