53%)
Defeated 16. Built to Spill – There’s Nothing Wrong With Love 4-0
Defeated 9. Beastie Boys - Check Your Head 18-12
Comments
[Aeroplane] Start to finish, brilliant. Check your head has moments of shoddiness.
The better abstract rhymer is Jeff Magnum.
VS
12. Daft Punk - Homework
Overall Ranking: 45
[PF 65]
Key songs: Around the World, Revolution 909
Year: 1997
Defeated 5. Tori Amos – Little Earthquakes 4-0
Defeated 4. Pulp - Different Class 17-13
Comments
None for Daft Punk.
Different Class is less exhausting, and although you can dance to it, it has more than one use.
This might be Pulp's last win.

Not surprising that a site with a weekly Daft Punk feature should attract so many voting Daft Punk fans, but NMH wins here.

In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is not just a haunted carousel ride through one man's psyche; it is a deeply specific personal piece of art that is simultaniosly somehow universal and encompassing.
Daft Punk has Fridays, but I will be listening to Aeroplane for the rest of my life.

I hope people are not reading too much into Friday's recurring gig for our Franco friends...
In my personal judging criteria a dance album needs to be earthshatteringly triumphant to beat a solid rock record, and one that could beat the well crafted and brilliant NMH has to be truly amazing. That said, I'd love to hear one. As good as Homework is, the raised bar it does not pass on everyday listening.
So, Aeroplane advances. Should note though, the crowd for this matchup was best of tournament so far. Just think of the costumed superfans.

As with "OK Computer" vs. "Odelay," I think people are rewarding the rock band for working within a more enduring genre than its more of-its-time competition.
I go with Daft Punk on this one -- it was one of the biggest "breakthroughs" of electronic music, and was much more exciting, at the time, than another solid singer/songwriter+band effort like NMH's.
