I'm kinda surprised that Elliot Smith made it this far - especially looking at who he knocked off. Must be the same people voting for Jeff Buckley. My vote goes to Loveless - when's that follow-up coming, by they way?

MBV. Smith has a nice voice, but the big brassy Beatles arrangements don't suit his shrinking violet persona as much as his earlier bare bones acoustic albums. Either/Or is sweeter and sadder, and would still lose to MBV easily.

I'm also surprised that Elliot Smith made it this far. Though I have some fond rememberences of "Sweet Adeline" and think that XO was his best effort, MBV released a moster with this album. If they lost to Smith, it would be sinful.

The Bloody - Elliott Smith has his place and a fondness in my heart, but no way he compares to the heft of MBV.
