I'm wearing my pencil skirt in this round...

This is a crazy high school nostalgia battle for me, depicting the Brit indie v. West Coast gangsta tug of war that alot of folks can probably relate to, but seems in my head really specific to suburban Oregon. At their heart both are a bit misogynistic, but Cocker's seems born of fear and Dre's of contempt. No question which garners more sympathy. Plus the rap skit has never been endearing. Pulp.

Pulp baby!

Dre probably had a higher peak, but to paraphrase Chris Rock, it's kind of embarassing to ride around blasting, "Eazy-Z can eat a big fat dick".
Like Jeff pointed out above, there is more than a little bit of serendipity in the mach-ups.
I like Pulp.

I'm going with Pulp, mostly because i've always been an East Coast hip hop guy and the feud isn't over for me yet.

Rap faced many uphill battles in the early years and so naturally my parents didn't want me to have Dr. Dre in my collection. When parents say no, the world says yes and I got my hands on the CD anyway. Sorry Pulp, you just were too clean to have been enjoyed at that time in life. Advantage Dr. Dre.

Pulp in a landslide. I never, ever got into the Chronic. Perhaps I was a bit mad that this was the album that everyone seemed to endorse while there was so much better hip-hop felt elsewhere. This may have introduced the G-funk sound, but oh what has that wrought? Hyphy is more interesting to me.

Im going Chronic. G-Funk is a force. Plus I have to vote for Dre since it's part of the "agreement" from when Vanilla Ice and I handed royalties over to Suge Knight.

I really like this match up. Styles cannot be more different. Nostalgia hits major Junior High points with Dre, but what does that really mean? I vote for Pulp. I would vote twice for Pulp if I was British.

This contest was the source of some fierce debate at the local bar last night. I don't find either album that great inherently so you kind of have to judge them historically . . .
I feel like if anyone ever makes a movie set in 1992, he will HAVE to put one of Dre's songs in it. The album was everywhere that year and its not very often that a good album has that kind of presence.
Pulp had quite an impact on 1995-96 as well, though not as much as Dre. But I must have danced to Common People 1000 times that year. And 1995-96 was the better year for me. Plus Pulp allowed my pubescent self to see two girls make out for the first time, and that should count for something.
I vote Pulp.

Dr. Dre, definitely!
I hope everyone doesn't do the backlash thing just because an album got really popular. I see it here, and I see it with Pearl Jam's "Ten" so far in this poll.

Ah Jason! You, mister, are a breath of unjaded air!... I like you already.

I don't think people are backlashing (word?) against this and Ten because they were popular. Nevermind and OK Computer were/are rediculously popular as well; where are those backlashes?

I think both those albums fall under the category of "not allowed to bash" albums.

All of my best memories of music-fueled adolescent angst involve rap music, so naturally I feel obliged to offer my vote to Dre.
