With B-sides like these!
We love the girls in our lives. We love them because they are generous and giving and beautiful and poetic and poignant and we think we could be friends with them if we ever met. Here are some fantastic B-sides that deserve your attention.

The Long Blondes - "All Bar One Girls"
Our old friends the Long Blondes keep releasing excellent material. Leaving us convinced that a constant trickling of new songs is the surefire method for continuous relevance. This funky and glamtastic beauty is found on the Giddy Stratospheres EP, the latest single from the as of yet still unreleased in the US album, Someone to Drive You Home. We loved it so much that we named it the #1 album of last year. Provincial releases be damned! This is a globalized blog.
Kate Jackson rails against the shallow gold-digging that she sees at the British bar chain All Bar One while accompanied by spartan drums and bass close at her sides like two bodyguards. I've never stepped foot into an All Bar One, but from what I gather they seem to be an upscale franchise that caters to chi-chi UK women. Leave it to the British to reengineer America's branding heritage for the purposes of mass market alcohol consumption. I imagine an aura of self importance prevalent among the people buying overpriced drinks, many of them in bright unnatural colors. Some topped with way too elaborate garnishes. Kate would probably say the same about the All Bar One girls. In fact she sorta does.

Camera Obscura - "Hands Up Baby"
Dark and twisting duet featuring a rare male vocal courtesy of guitarist Kenny McKeeve. Eerily reminiscent to Nancy Sinatra's version of “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)." I already see Tarantino working a way to use this song for a future film. Guns, self loathing, and violins. Those Camera Obscura kids are so darn cute.

Could you post "Lemon Juice and Paper Cuts" or find somethat that has it and could post it? It is one of the few Camera Obscura tracks that is not available on hype machine. Thanks.

It was a shame to not hear Camera Obscura's "Hands Up Baby" at the live show. Best song lyrically for me that they have made.
