OKC vs. NVMD - (based solely on a two second drum fill)

Starting in March, MerrySwankster and its readers held a tournament to determine the best album of the 90s. Styled after March Madness, it included 65 teams. Nirvana's Nevermind and Radiohead's OK Computer are the finalists. To vote on which album you think should win, click here or vote in the comments below.
Big games come down to even bigger plays made in the smallest element of time. It took 4.8 seconds for Tyes Edney to drive the length of the court to bank in a game winning shot for UCLA in the second round of the '95 tourney. It took 2.1 seconds for Christian Laettner to take one dribble, turn, and hit the most famous jump shot in NCAA history. Likewise, it would only make sense that my decision in Nevermind vs. OKC come down to one measure played out in 2 seconds.
Exhibit A: Dave Grohl’s drum fill from "In Bloom" at the 3:15 mark
In order to make full use of this basketball analogy while I still have the chance, I imagine Nevermind as a team of 7’0 footers that can simply overpower their opponents at both ends of the court. Such filtered intensity as heard in this 2 second drum fill has so far been too much for any album to counter... leading up to this point.
Exhibit B: Phil Selway’s drum fill from "Electioneering" at the 2:51 mark
If I was coaching OKC in this match, I would say that if OKC could somehow match the intensity of Nevermind at any point than it could win the game. For me this Christian Laettner-esque moment comes with Phil Selway’s drum fill in Electioneering at the 2:51 mark. In these two seconds OKC makes a play that shifts momentum to their side by proving that it can be as explosive as Nevermind when it is not fiddling with computer knobs.
Nevermind shouldn’t feel too disappointed; after all it can always revel in the fact that it served as inspiration for such high art as Weird Al...
