Retrohump - ignore the 80s, 90s

As a card carrying former owner of the B-52s Cosmic Thing, I can fairly assess the entire B-52s collection. While the majority of people witnessed only Love Shack and Roam, which, honestly, still are more enjoyable than a lot of radio pop from that day, there remains an under-the-surface early B-52s catalog that was certainly more Talking Heads and XTC than it was Lisa Lisa or Deee-Lite. Below you will find videos highlighting the days of their spastic, unstructured pop-punk (?). From the eerily ghost town-like, acid trip Western Rock Lobster to the Studio 54, wandering bass/synth Dance this Mess Around to the Spy Hunter-theme-styled Planet Claire, their early work was varied and it was good.

Thanks Keith--I'm struck by the band's ability to pefectly blend being goofy and undeniably "we-don't-give-a-shit" cool. And all without a bass player.
