Texas: Belated August Concert Listings
An unhealthy cocktail of summer heat, Hurricane Dolly and a family vacation conflicted with the usual Texas Concert Listings schedule. For those of you dependent upon MS.com for your Texas concert listings, I apologize for the tardy posting. Here’s who you’ve missed, at various points of interest: Junior Brown, Secret Machines, Jay Reatard, the Hold Steady, Emmylou Harris, Nellie McKay, Titus Andronicus, BRMC, Big Daddy Kane, Snoop Dogg, others.
Thankfully, the relatively poor Texas concert season looks to be ending, and a number of solid options remain across the Lone Star State for the rest of the month. Perhaps the influx of talent is scheduled to coincide with the onset of the pro, college, and (most importantly) high school football seasons. Nas (w/ Talib Kweli), Xiu Xiu, My Morning Jacket, Steely Dan (?!) and Nine Inch Nails all hit multiple cities before the end of the summer. Even better, Austin hits all-out slump-busting mode. Think of it as the Bat City’s preseason in anticipation of the upcoming Austin City Limits festival.
