Video: Hail Social - "No Paradise"
My recent infatuation with dreamy side-project-to-a-side-project Memory Cassette has lead me back to the source, Philadelphia's Hail Social. A cryptic MySpace quote reading "R.I.P" suggests that this party may already be over (which might explain the sharp uptick in offshoot activity). Lacking any concrete evidence, I can only delight in a video from this summer, for a track called "No Paradise." As with Memory Cassette, it provides some fuzzy lo-fi disco (made up genre alert, holla!) that combines my duel loves of nonchalance and decadence, but this time with guitar solos. The video is pure 80s fantasia, with Neverending Story/Dark Crystal vibes that are sure to warm the degenerating hearts of my rapidly aging peers.
