Pitchfork Poll: Part 2

Unlike 100% of the crooks you will vote for tomorrow, Merry Swankster delivers on promises. Pitchfork's demarcation for "Best New Music" are albums with a ranking of 8.5 or higher. But plenty of great albums just miss the cut. What follows is a selection of Pitchfork's "Recommended Music" releases.

For readers needing a sports analogy, think of it as the Pitchfork equivalent to top seeds in the NIT tournament.

On the eve of Election day in America, we are inspired to present a poll. Inquiring on much less serious matters than those being debated over in the national political theater, but arguably, just as important.

We realize there are two months left of 2006 to prematurely be calling it a wrap. But come late December we'll be too self absorbed by our own lists.
